Minutes of the Meeting of The Prince Edward Radio Club April 3 2008

Vice President Kevin VE3THB, called Meeting to order at 7:30 p.m.
It was moved by Art VE3SQG and seconded by Tim VE3UO that the minutes of the March 6 2008 meeting
be approved. CARRIED
FINANCIAL REPORT
Treasurer Al VE3FZ gave the financial report for the first quarter 2008 (Attached)
The opening balance was $4353.60 and the closing balance was $4995.88
It was noted that the club has committed funds from the club account for the new repeater.
This will be approximately $2645 US plus exchange plus PST and GST
It was moved by David VE3STI and seconded by Art VE3SQG that the Treasurers report be accepted. CARRIED
REPEATER REPORT
The repeater crystals are being shipped to the repeater manufacturer, it will take two weeks to assemble and test the repeater after delivery of the crystals. Art VE3SQG suggested that the 118.8hz tone be put on the repeater output only at first. A general clean up of the repeater site will be completed before the new machine is installed. David VE3STI suggested that the rack be removed from the site and cleaned up in advance of the new machines arrival.
NEW BUSINESS
Al VE3FZ reported that the clubs insurance with RAC is due for renewal. At the present time PERC membership is composed of 56% RAC members and 44% non RAC Members.
PERC Club Auction May 1st at Bloomfield Town Hal
Peter VE3KWM and Keith VA3KRV will be auctioneers.
There are no reserve bids and donations to the club are encouraged.

TOUR OF THE COUNTY
May 3rd 2008 starts at Pinecrest Elementary School, 27 County Road 30.

This is located just north of the Village of Bloomfield. NOTE: This is change of location from previous hunts.
Start time of Hunt is 12:00 noon there will be three transmitters for three hours.
FIELD DAY
It was suggested that a final decision on the site should be decided at the next QARC meeting.
Field Day dates are June 28th. & 29th.
OPEN HOUSE AT THE CEMENT PLANT
Kevin VA3THB reported that there would be an open house at the cement plant to celebrate 50 years of operation.
There is a DVD of the plants history available for $5.00.

New VE3TJU Repeater Project
The new VE3TJU repeater has been installed. It is running on 30 watts as the PA is off line for now. You will notice a different courtesy tone. Just remember the timer is reset by the tone not when the tail drops, you don't have to wait for the tail to drop. If the repeater has been quiet for awhile it requires a second of carried to awaken it and then announce, "The New VE3TJU Repeater". After that it is almost instantaneous and the ID is just VE3TJU.
The Autopatch is operational.
To Access the phone line key in the star (*) immediately followed by the number you are calling MINUS 613.
The 613 is not necessary.
Use the pound sign (#) to hang up.
All timers are about the same as the old repeater. The link is not operational yet.
