The Prince Edward Radio Club was started in the 1980's to promote amateur radio activities, expand technical knowledge, and provide emergency radio communications as a public service.
The Club run classes leading to an Industry Canada licence, maintains a 2 meter repeater and is a participant in the Canwarn Eastern Severe Weather Watch as well as the daily Weather Net. The Weather Net collects weather data from the Eastern Central Counties and passes the data to the Trenton Forecast Center. It run daily at 8:20 local time on repeaters VE3TJU (14.730) and VE3RTR (145.150)
There is an open chat net, called the Bay Bridge Net ,every Tuesday at 7:30 pm on the club repeater, VE3TJU, 146.730. The net is named for the bridge that connects Prince Edward County to Belleville and is a joint operation of QUARC and PERC. Everyone is invited to check in.
Club meetings are held the first Thursday of every month at the Bloomfield Town Hall on Main St in Bloomfield. Visitors are welcome and can get directions on VE3TJU from 7pm on meeting nights.
